The Verdant clubhouse at dusk

The club

Built for the hours around the match

Verdant began with a complaint: padel clubs are excellent for ninety minutes and indifferent for the rest of the evening. Bright light, plastic chairs, a vending machine.

So the courts were placed inside a house instead of a hangar. Low light at the glass. Wood underfoot in the corridors. A kitchen open past midnight, because matches finish late and nobody should be sent home hungry.

Membership is capped so that a court is always findable, and the same four faces at the bar are the ones you played an hour ago.
